5/26/11: FIRST EVER OFFICIAL X-MEN: EVOLUTION OC TOURNAMENT: PHASE 6 ENDS TOMORROW!
OMG I DON'T BELIEVE IT! The Evo-Obsessed-Club and The Brotherhood Club have come together to create the first ever OC Tournament. CHECK IT OUT. And don't forget to see the AWESOME PROMO!

The judging was long. The judging was tough. The judging... broke several of our computers, apparently. BUT JUDGE WE DID, and RESULTS YOU MAY HAVE. More than any round in the past, there were some heated debates on this round. We eventually had to come down to, in several cases, not only this round's comic and story, but previous round's submissions as well, and how the stories, overall, stacked up against each other. NOT. An easy task, folks.

We were very happy with all your entries. Truly, there was almost no one we felt deserved
elimination this round, which is why it's taken us so long to come to a verdict. (that, and the aforementioned computer troubles. >_>) We just want to let you all know that we really do appreciate all the work you've put into this contest. We really, really do. Thank you all SO MUCH

No spotlighters, this round- getting to proceed into the FINALS is it's own spotlight, yeah? I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with your prompt for the Final... Read on to find out what it is, and who made it. (Bum bum BUMMMMMMM!)

The end of Phase Phive saw the elimination of some great characters. But, as with all rounds, someone had to go. If you CANNOT FIND YOUR CHARACTER listed in the new prompts, then I'm afraid they were one of those who were eliminated. THANK YOU for your efforts in Phases 1 through 5. This contest would not be NEAR as fun without everyone entering who did. The eliminated characters are now considered SPECTATOR characters. Spectator characters are still AT the annex, but are no longer participating in the missions. So, other still participating characters can have your character in their comics, but your character is no longer in the competition.

If you are uncomfortable with your character remaining in the contest while you, yourself, are no longer involved, PLEASE LET US KNOW. Send a note to TheBrotherhoodclub or the Evo-Obsessed-Club and tell us. We will issue a statement letting the remaining contestants know that your character has opted to return to their home, and is no longer chillaxing at their respective base. IF YOUR ROOMMATE WAS AXED, please assume that you are still rooming with that character. We MAY, at a much later date, reassign roommates, but for now, roommates should remain as they were in Phase 2.

This is THE FINAL ROUND. At the end of this round, we will announce our top Hoodling, and our top New Recruit! Please do your best to try and secure these bragging rights, and, as always, have fun with it!

TEAM ASSIGNMENTS AND MISSIONS

For Phase 6, all OCs have the SAME PROMPT. You may assume your OC is with the others, or you can go it solo. That is up to you. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING PARAGRAPHS BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS.



When your OC finally comes around, they find themselves in clear cell. It's not apparent what the walls are made of, exactly, but it's absolutely stronger than it looks, and doesn't really want to break. Other characters are also being held in the same compound.

Apparently, the Sentinels have brought your character to Area51. Hey- Trask had to throw in with SOMEONE after the OFFICIAL government shut him down. Anyway, your character is trapped. What are they going to do? What is going to be done TO them?!

It's time for your character to prove themselves. They've gotta try bustin' outta this joint- it's their only chance! But will they succeed?

That's right. For the past five rounds, rainrach and BlazeRocket have held your hands, giving you rules, constraints and stipulations to meet, but not this time. This time, you're on your own. YOU chose your team mates, YOU chose what happens, YOU chose who shows up. The only thing you've gotta do is turn in your entry on time, and in comic format. That's it. Any of you ever heard the expression "Giving a person enough rope to hang themselves with?" Well- that's what we're doing. Show us you have what it takes to make a GOOD comic, and win this contest. We dare you.

Though it's not a rule this round, the judges DO like to see the other OC's in your comic. NOT A RULE. Nooo. But. Y'know. I'm not sayin'. I'm just sayin'.



This should go without stating, but if any contestant DOESN'T turn in an comic for Phase 6, you will be automatically eliminated (just like those who didn't submit for Phases 3, 4 & 5). PLEASE don't make us have to eliminate your character WHO WE LOVE because you didn't submit an entry. Especially not on the Final Round. Really. It really- REALLY disappoints us. If you think you're not going to be able to make us, at least tell us BEFORE the final day of the contest? Although... we'd like it best of all if NO ONE dropped out this round.

Your entries will be judged by five MYSTERY judges (though I'm sure you can guess two of them ). Some of which are Evo fans, some of which know nothing about X-men at all. This is to gather an UNBIASED opinion on your story telling skills, as well as how well you're fitting into the X-universe. The judges will read these comics and rate.

PLEASE READ ALL THE RULES. If you don't want to read those giant paragraphs, just read the underlined parts. If you have QUESTIONS about the underlined parts...read the paragraph. MAKE SURE YOU READ THE ENTIRE JOURNAL BEFORE ASKING A QUESTION. I REALLY don't want to facepalm this Phase. Please don't make me. My face hurts so much from self-inflicted palming already. I don't write/edit these rules for my health, you know. Please read first.



PHASE 6 RULES and HELPFUL HINTS
Rule 1: Submit all comic pages WHEN THE COMIC IS COMPLETED. Do NOT submit comic pages one at a time as you complete them. Note the entire comic to the club all together. You can submit the comic without an ending if you're running late. Really! That's fine! You can submit it half-finished! But be aware that we're judging based on STORY. You may submit pages AFTER the deadline if you like, but you run the risk of submitting AFTER the judges have already gone over your comic and scored it.

Rule 2: Comics must be at least one page in length. You can do more than one page but no less. There should be at LEAST two panels on a comic page.


Helpful Hint 1: Your piece will be judged NOT ONLY on creativity, clarity, and conformity, but ALSO your past performance in the tournament. This means that not only will your piece be judged on how interestingly and conservatively you complete your assignment, but also on how CLEAR the storytelling is and how well it remains within the parameters of the prompt. If we don't know what's going on in the story, that's a problem. Please make sure what's going on is obvious. Additionally, this round, we will be looking back on all your previous entries as well. If you think maybe you didn't do so well in past rounds, now might be a good time to pull out all the stops. It should be clear by now we're not judging on artistic skill. As a few entries demonstrated, you can draw stick figures, and STILL have it clear what's going on in the story. DO NOT BE INTIMIDATED by your artistic level.

Helpful Hint 2: Note your comic entries to the correct club. New Recruits (X-Men) are to be submitted to the Evo-Obsessed-Club . Hoodlings (Brotherhood) are to be submitted to TheBrotherhoodclub . Send your comic pages in a NOTE to the clubs. A NOTE.

Helpful Hint 3: Link your comic pages together. Because, really, come on, the judges have to click through 10 entries of varying length and YOU decide you're not going to link you pages together? It's REALLY TIME-CONSUMING and IRRITATING for me and EVERYONE else reading the comic to click back and forth between the gallery and the next page. It makes me associate your piece with BAD FEELINGS and when I'm eliminating people this round and it's between YOU and someone who actually linked their pages together...GUESS WHO I'M GONNA PICK TO GO? So, if you make a multi-paged comic...FOR THE LOVE OF MAGNETO, link to the next comic page in the artist's comments of your piece. ON EVERY PAGE. And maybe (not a requirement) include a link to the first page on EVERY PAGE too? This makes it MUCH easier for teammates, other contestants, and judges (WINKWINK) to navigate through your comics. Plus, it's like 15 extra seconds to add a link in the artist's comments. Not that hard, people.

5/12/11: A NOTE ABOUT EXTRAS!

Hey, ya'll!  I wanted to let you know that once the Evo OC Tournament is over the Brotherhood Club will no longer be accepting or featuring extras in the journal or in favorites.  This is, of course, not because I don't wuv you all, it's just that this is the BROTHERHOOD club, not an OC club.  Sure, for the sake of the tournament we accepted them, but once the tournament is over, I'm not accepting a single extra and they won't be in the journal anymore.  They'll STILL be in the favorites, I'm not DE-FAVING, but they won't be featured.  Just thought I'd give you all a head's up as the tournament gets closer to concluding!

I have started a pool on my page ( rainrach ) to make our fine club into a SUPER GROUP!  Why?  I miss having thumbnails in the journal (especially for the OC Tourney) and having folders within folders for our contests. I also want to make a rad looking journal skin.  It would be nice to be a super group again.  So please, if you can donate some points, please head over to my page ( rainrach ) and donate to the Brotherhood!  Thankies!

1/29/11: THE SAD PASSING OF BOYD KIRKLAND

(From the Evo-Obsessed-Club's journal): On the 27th of this month, Boyd Kirkland passed away while waiting for a new lung at UCLA Medical Center. Mr. Kirkland was the producer of X-men: Evolution. Without him, we would have never had this wonderful show, and many others, and he will be missed. Our condolences go out to his friends and family.
